Mr. Lorentzen has known every Governor of Nevada since 1950 and played a key role in working with key law enforcement officials, political leaders and journalists during this period of time, particularly between 1978 and 1982 in Las Vegas. Mr. Lorentzen was recently appointed to the National Advisory Committee to the Eisenhower Memorial Commission (EMC).  He will discuss the 6th memorial dedicated to a US President in Washington DC.  

Mr. Lorentzen resided in Nevada for a period of 21 years, starting in 1968 and ending in 2001.  He earned a M.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno and a B.A. degree from CSUEB.  He was the first Executive Director for a political party in Nevada and was based in Las Vegas.  Lorentzen later was appointed to serve in three Presidential administrations.  His last appointment was as Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services from 2006 to 2009 with lead responsibilities in Calif., AZ, Nevada, Hawaii and the Pacific Region.  Previously he served at the U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Dept. of Education and the U.S. General Services Administration.  He also received a Presidential appointment to the National Board at the Institute of Museum & Library Services, for which he received Senate confirmation.  He presently provides strategic consulting services under the auspices of “Health Approaches” and is also affiliated with (and co-founder) the Global Intelligence Network in Las Vegas.  Articles written by Mr. Lorentzen have been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland Tribune, Contra Costa Times, Daily Review, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Las Vegas Sun and the Las Vegas Business Press.  He resides in Castro Valley and writes a monthly column for the Castro Valley Forum.
