Hayward Rotary Club

President’s Message

“Peace through Service”.  Rotary International’s President Sakuji Tanaka has set these 3 words as the theme for more than 1,220,000 Rotarians in 200+ countries to embrace during this Rotary Year.  For 107 years, Rotarians throughout the world have given of their time, talents and treasures in their service to bring about peaceful changes their own communities as well as in communities a world away.

Since 1922, the members of the Hayward Rotary Club have been a part of this success and the efforts to eradicate Polio throughout the world, bring clean, safe water and food to impoverished villages, and establish schools in remote parts of the world.  Now, 90 years later we can make an even greater impact in our own community and in the lives of others throughout the world.

Each year our work as Hayward Rotarians continues to play an important role in the lives of so many people.  We work to raise funds for other deserving organizations through our Community Grants Program, helping with the education of our young people, and create opportunities for our members to give something of themselves.  But we can and will do more. It will be through the continued efforts of our members - and those who chose to become Hayward Rotarians - that we will be able to raise more money and serve an even greater number of people both here and throughout the world while developing deep and lasting friendships amongst our members.

But let us not forget that the objective of Rotary was founded on the principles of business people doing business with others who they could trust.  As a business owner, I too have had the opportunity to expand my business contacts but more importantly, being a Rotarian has given me the opportunity to meet a group of individuals who share my ideals.

You have entrusted me to help guide this Club in the year ahead and I am truly honored by this trust.  I promise to do my very best and to make it a fun, productive and FINE year. I am grateful to my sponsor, Bob Sakai, for inviting me to be a part of the Hayward Rotary in 1998. Each of us needs to invite reach out to others to become Rotarians.

Thank you all for making a difference.

Brian M. Schott
