Nick Huggett and Marvel Strike Force Help Electronic Games Rule The Entertainment World

Once centered in the Bay Area, electronic game companies are now spread across the globe, and the most valued practitioners are proficient in the four major platforms: PC, mobile, handheld, and console. Nick Huggett is one of those whose experience includes all those platforms and on DATE he’ll explain to members of the Hayward Rotary Club why the $180 billion-a-year electronic gaming industry has conquered the entertainment world with many of the characters we first met in comic books. Over 164 million adults in the United States play video games and three-quarters of all Americans have at least one gamer in their household.

The industry has bigger revenues than the movies and all professional sports combined.

A graduate of Hayward High School, Chabot College, and San Francisco State, Nick is now based in Southern California and his career has included work on the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes game for Electronic Arts and now Scopely's Marvel Strike Force, featuring dozens of heroes and villains from the “Marvel Multiverse” such as Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor, Red Skull and Venom. The Google Play digital distribution service named Marvel Strike Force the best breakthrough game of 2019 for overall design, user experience, engagement and retention, and strong growth. PocketGamer.biz reports that the game generated $144 million in revenue from January to August of 2020. Hundreds of thousands of people worldwide play the game daily.

The free-to-play, visually-striking, role-playing game pits a squad of five superheroes of your choice against a squad of villains. The side with the bigger punch wins after you watch the animations play out. As a community manager and video producer, Nick's responsibilities include overseeing a team with oversight on social media strategy, producing and hosting the Strike Time video program, managing 20 "influencers," and acting as an ambassador for the game in appearances on Marvel Entertainment's YouTube channel.
