In the fall of 2023, the Bay Philharmonic moved its orchestral performance venue to the 1,500-seat Chabot College Performing Arts Center in Hayward, where its first concert in October was met with wide acclaim. Conductor Jung-Ho Pak, described by the New York Times as a director who "radiates enthusiasm" will discuss the move and review the upcoming performance schedule as featured speaker when the Hayward Rotary Club meets for its noon luncheon on Monday, Nov. 13.
Since 2006, Pak has been artistic director and conductor of the Cape Symphony in Massachusetts and, prior to that, similar positions with Orchestra Nova, the New Haven Symphony, and the San Diego Symphony.
In addition to bringing Rotarians up-to-date on symphony developments, Pak will encourage members to attend the Dec. 17, 3 p.m., holiday performance what will celebrate cultures and traditions from around the world. In addition to the full orchestra, the concert will include performances by the San Francisco Girls Chorus, Yoko's Academy of Dance, and Ballet Folklorico Mexico Deanza.
