Rotary District 5170 District Governor Hung Wei will be the featured presenter when the Hayward Rotary Club meets for its luncheon meeting on Monday, Sept. 18.
For more than 30 years, Hung Wei has been a community volunteer, serving on many local non-profit organization boards. She was elected to the Cupertino City Council in November 2020 and currently serves as mayor. She served as trustee on the Fremont Union High School District from 2007 to 2018,
Wei was born and raised in Taiwan. She came to the U.S. in 1979 to study at UCLA. She received a master’s degree in teaching English as A Second Language, moved to San Jose in 1981, and to Cupertino in 1990.
With District 5170, she served as president of the Rotary Club of Cupertino in 2013-2014, assistant governor to Area 8, membership chair, and lieutenant governor in 2021-2022.
She is married to Ta-Wei Chien, also a graduate of National Taiwan University and UCLA. She has two adult sons, both married and living independently, and a granddaughter.
