On average, 4.2 million new businesses open in the US every year. In 2022, it increased to more than 5 million. What is driving this surge in entrepreneurship and why are Chabot College business courses full of students with ideas for new enterprises?

The Hayward Rotary Club presenter on Monday, Aug. 28 will be Miguel Colon, who founded 10 businesses and is currently a professor of entrepreneurship and business at Chabot College. He will discuss why the college is experiencing a surge of interest in entrepreneurship courses and what new business ideas to watch.

Among the businesses he founded is SEC Compliance Services, a corporate compliance reporting company that captured significant market share in less than a year, leading to its acquisition by Issuer Direct Corp. (NYSE: ISDR).
