Hayward's new $82 million Fire Training Center will host the Hayward Rotary Club on Monday, Oct. 16. The facility officially opened in June and consists of a fire station, training tower, and facilities for practicing emergency response. It is located at 1295 W Winton Ave. near the south end of the Hayward Executive Airport. Rotarians should park in the lot off Winton Avenue and walk west toward the main training center building, where lunch will be served.
Hayward Rotarian and Fire Chief Garrett Contreras will be joined as the event host by those representing the Chabot College fire training program and the Eden Area ROP. Members will be able to tour the facilities, that include the replica of a passenger jet, a bus donated by AC Transit, and an elevated BART train car. The campus was constructed with funding from Hayward Measure C sales tax revenue and bond proceeds from Measure A of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District.
