A presentation on the extraordinary contributions of Hayward's Interact clubs to the community will be given at the next luncheon meeting of the Hayward Rotary Club, to be held at 1074 B St. Interact clubs are the high school equivalent to Rotary and its members are also pledged to "service above self." Support for these clubs, which have already begun their work this school term, has been the highest priority of Rotary Club President Kim Huggett.
Interact club members from Moreau and Mt. Eden high schools were on hand when Hayward Rotary conducted its annual Child Spree event last month, giving backpacks, clothing and school supplies to needy students. More than 30 "Interactors" supported Hayward Rotary at its annual fund-raising efforts during the Rowell Ranch Rodeo, helping to raise more than $40,000 that was given in grants to 16 local nonprofit organizations.
Hayward Rotary's annual Omelet Brunch will be held at Chabot College on Sunday, Nov. 10, with proceeds going toward supporting Interact clubs' participation in leadership programs.
Hayward Rotary's Interact Club chair is Patrick Landeza of Moreau Catholic High School and he will lead the presentation on Sept. 9. There also will be a presentation by the club's Youth Protection Services Officer Mona Diamantine.
