Chabot College President Jamal Cooks will be the featured speaker at the June 16 meeting of Hayward Rotary, to be held at noon at the Masonic Hall, 1074 B St.


He was appointed by the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Board of Trustees as Chabot's 10th president on Aug. 1, 2023, although he assumed the role on an interim basis in 2021. Chabot has an annual budget of $40 million, 400 full-time faculty and staff, and even more who work part-time.
He brings more than 20 years of teaching, research, and leadership experience to the Chabot presidency. He served as vice president of academic services at Chabot in 2022. Prior to community college administration, Dr. Cooks served as a professor at San Francisco State University, where he was also the associate director for the educational leadership doctoral program.
