
Internal medicine specialist Leena Gupta, M.D., will give a presentation on the importance of heart health at the Feb. 10 lunch meeting of the Hayward Rotary Club. The club meets at 1074 B St.
Heart disease has been the leading cause of death in the U.S. since 1950. The Centers for Disease Control reports that in the U.S.:
- About 695,000 people died from heart disease in 2021: one in every five deaths.
- Someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds.
- Every year, about 805,000 people have a heart attack
- Heart disease costs the country about $239.9 billion each year
Dr. Gupta has 34 years of experience in the medical field, including work at Regional Medical Center of San Jose and St. Rose Hospital in Hayward. She has multiple certifications and publications.
