On Monday, March 20, Mayor Mark Salinas will present the State of the City to our club.
 
Mayor Mark Salinas is a proud Hayward native.  He was born at St. Rose Hospital and grew up in South Hayward in the Schafer Park Neighborhood. After graduating from Hayward High he attended Chabot College and later transferred to San Francisco State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in La Raza Studies and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Public Policy Studies.
 
He started his career in education 26 years ago at San Francisco State University. Today, he teaches Ethnic Studies and History at Chabot College and occasionally is a lecturer in the Ethnic Studies Department at California State University, East Bay. For 29 years he has been a volunteer at The Kids’ Breakfast Club, a non-profit organization in Hayward responsible for feeding thousands of deserving children and their families when school isn't in session.  For the past 17 years, he has served as the Executive Director.
 
In 2010, he was elected to the Hayward City Council. After two successful re-elections, in 2022 he was elected Mayor.
