On Monday, Dec 7 Jayanti Addleman will present an overview and an update on the latest happenings at the Hayward Library. Jayanti has been the Director of Library Services at the City of Hayward since January of 2019. Prior to coming to Hayward she was the Library Director and County Librarian for 12 years at Monterey County.
Jayanti is passionate about embracing diversity and delivering Library Services to all members of the community, and sees herself as a strong champion of the underdog. She is very proud of Hayward Public Library’s many achievements over the last two years and most recently the City Council’s approval of waiving overdue fines starting in January 2021.
Jayanti has worked in a variety of libraries during her many years in the profession including city and county libraries, community colleges and private industry, and has served on the boards of several educational and nonprofit organizations. She has been recognized for her professional and volunteer work through many awards during her career including the statewide Outstanding Librarian in Support of Literacy and Outstanding Woman of Monterey County. As of November she has taken over as the President of the California Library Association.
